Downtown Fort Myers
With our office conveniently located just a few blocks from the main strip, we have a special appreciation for Downtown Fort Myers. For this edition of a blog series we’re calling, Friday Favorites, we’re rounding up our picks for eating, shopping, and sight-seeing, all perfect for the next time you’re wandering the charming cobblestone streets and boardwalk in the City of Palms.
Brunch: McGregor Café
A neighborhood favorite, the McGregor Café is right off the historic McGregor Boulevard and is a great place to enjoy brunch or lunch. Their inside dining is cozy, and the patio’s seating is surrounded by luscious greenery with plenty of shade. Sip on their Bellini’s while you enjoy their popular quiche, biscuits made-from-scratch, or lobster cake salad topped with melon salsa!
Local Attraction: Edison Ford Winter Estate
Travel back in time by visiting the beautiful botanical gardens and museum at the Edison Ford Winter Estates — the property dates back to the 1800s when Thomas Edison purchased the land for his winter home. You can browse the grounds on your own, or take a guided tour with one of the Estate’s experts.
Lunch: King’s Kitchen & Bar
For bold flavors and comfort food goodness, check out King’s Kitchen & Bar for lunch or dinner! They have amazing barbecue, Latin, and seafood options — we love the barramundi salad and tacos!
Shop: Anything on First Street, like Market Earth and The Franklin Shops
Stepping in and out of the shops on First Street is sure to brighten your mood! From the incredible galleries filled with local art, to local boutiques with trendy accessories and hand-made clothing, there is something for everyone on your vacation gift list (including yourself)!
Dinner, Drinks & Accommodations: The Luminary Hotel & Oxbow Restaurant
At sunset, head over to the Luminary Hotel’s rooftop bar, Beacon Social Drinkery, to watch the sun fade into the Gulf of Mexico. Stay for dinner or head over to the Luminary’s sister restaurant, Oxbow, for a delicious dinner right on the river!
